LEEP

Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure is a simple and effective way to remove abnormal cells (also called dysplasia) on your cervix that are detected by Pap tests. LEEP uses a thin wire loop that acts like a scalpel. An electric current is passed through the loop, which cuts away a thin layer of the surface cells, allowing new healthy cells to grow. The tissue that is removed is biopsied in the lab to confirm the diagnosis. LEEP can be performed in our office. It is a short outpatient procedure and recovery is brief.
